-Something's off. It was either my 5K route or MapMyRun:
I have always been pretty confident in MapMyRun's accuracy. It's always in line with about where I think I am.
My previous run, my first mile was 8:00 exactly. I was pretty happy with that, and it was certainly unexpected. My first mile in my 5K, it said I was at 7:16. I was floored, and it gave me this total boost of confidence. I WAS trucking it, but whether I was trucking it that well, I will never really know. I hit the 3-mile mark and really tried to power through that last tenth. We had to go around this lake, and then we turned left to the finish line. I was curious as to why others were bearing right towards the lake. Turns out we did have to circle the lake again, so while I thought I was done with 3.1 and then some at 25 1/2 minutes, I was not. The app looks like it had me pinpointed pretty precisely, but again, I guess I won't know:
Either way, I finished better than my first 5K by a minute even with the confusion, so I won't complain. Anyone else ever felt that your running app was off?
-I just want to share this election night wine haze DrawSomething masterpiece:
-I am not going to lie. Age 2 wearing me out. Macy's so sweet, but she is so darn stubborn. I have no idea where she might get that from. My favorite part of 2, though, is listening to them develop their language skills. Macy was a little slow to start, and it had us worried at first. At 26 months, she had a very adequate vocabulary, right in line with where it should have been, but she was only communicating with one word at a time. One word was all she needed in order to communicate an idea to me, but still, other kids her age were speaking in complete sentences. It didn't seem to be showing any signs of improvement. I had a speech therapy referral all ready to go from the pediatrician's office.
It was about when we were at the beach when she started making some progress. Her first good sentence was probably "Daddy jump in the water" when we were at the beach in September. She's doing marvelously now - still maybe a little catching up to do, but no more worries. She's very deliberate with each syllable, and I wonder if her slowness is personality-driven. She's always been very soft-spoken and quiet, and it's like she doesn't want to speak until she's sure she can enunciate it to the best of her ability. Sometimes it's a struggle to get her to speak loudly enough for me to hear her. Others it most certainly is not.
She's so very sweet. I am just ready to get past this phase where every interaction results in some sort of temper tantrum. I usually lean towards my instincts over self-help books, but this time I could use some literature to help me get a handle on her and deal with situations in a way that will ultimately benefit her. Suggestions are welcome. Wine is more welcome.
