And the winner is...

...definitely not me!!

If you recall, I had mentioned in my "3.1" post that my usual route through my neighborhood was about 2.8 miles or so, so adding a few tenths of a mile to complete a 5K shouldn't have been any kind of big deal.

I went on a nice long-to-me run this morning (which, by the way, has been more enjoyable than I ever thought it could be). I ran up to the town square and circled the green, which was nice right at dawn. On my way back, I got to thinking "wait, that math doesn't add up at all." Then I remembered that, awhile back, I'd calculated my neighborhood route at about ONE-point-eight miles, not two-point-eight. I ran that entire race based on a false sense of confidence! That is hardly a bad thing since it's all mental anyway.

Now I understand better, though, why I just wanted to puke while I was running it and why I was in too much pain to work out again for almost a week. I remember mentally erasing that half marathon from my bucket list.

I found the race results online today. My official time was 29:52 (8 seconds better than my goal of finishing between 30 and 35 minutes). I came in 168th out of 563 overall, and 7th out of 36 in the 30-34 F group. As a novice, I am happy about that. :)
