Blue Eyes!

I am completely enamored by my daughter's blue eyes.

I seriously never even entertained the notion that I would have a blue-eyed child. I mean, when you have dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin, and a matching son, you just kind of assume that's all you're going to get.

I honestly never cared one iota what color eyes or hair or skin tone my kids came out with. This is in spite of the time that I coated my face in a thick layer of baby powder one evening as a pre-teen because I wanted to look like I had fair skin. Of course, over the years, I have come to embrace my olive.

When I was surprised with a blue-eyed baby, though, I jumped for joy. I just look into them and melt. They're some majestic shade of blue that I've never seen before. It makes me sad that they'll probably change to a different shade of blue (which I will love just as much).

In other news, I tried to switch her to a store brand formula. She promptly stopped sleeping for more than a couple hours at a time. I believe it made her gassy. Back to Similac we went. Now I am just waiting for her to get the other stuff out of her system and quit being gassy so maybe she can sleep for decent stretches again. It's killin' me. I may love her eyes, but I'd prefer not look into them at 2am. :)

I also reached the point of "Screw 'The Book'" probably after Liam turned about 10 months. I am going to give Macy rice cereal a month early. Gasp! Call DFACS! I am just so totally over getting up in the middle of the night. Besides, my late babies have several weeks on most other babies at birth. They're seasoned pros at being people; they just decided to hang out a little while longer in my incubator.

Here's hoping for some sleep!
