Hurt So Good

It's funny how pain feels so marvelously good when you're beyond ready to get through a pregnancy and meet your child!

I've had a couple bouts of false labor over the last 48 hours (Google has assisted me in self-diagnosing it as false labor, anyway). Saturday morning I woke up at 1:30 with this intensely painful contraction and really bad cramping in my lower back. Yes, it hurt, but I'll tell ya - with each subsequent contraction, I was rooting for the pain! "Come on, hurt more! Hurt more!" It sure did hurt, and if it weren't for the fact that the contractions were so irregular (I'd have a good one every 5-10 minutes or so, and then some painless Braxton-Hicks-like contractions at random intervals in between), I would have thought it was the real thing. They were certainly painful enough, and I did not mind.

Same thing happened last night from about 9-11 pm, except this time they were pretty much on top of each other, maybe 3-5 minutes apart, some being more intense than others. Once again, I was just looking for some sort of regularity because I know the number 1 sign of false labor is lack of a steady pattern.

It never happened. I pretty much knew that when you go from nothing to contracting so frequently, it can't be the real thing. I do figure, though, that each episode of false labor is getting me closer to the real thing (watch, though - I'll go to my appointment on Tuesday and once again hear "no progress!").

That's where we're at...just waiting around either for REAL labor or for the 14th to roll around. I'll keep ya posted.
