More Random Items

-Nothing like coming to that realization one day that you've been had at the hands of your 2-year-old. Saturday morning, we listened to him babble and read his books in his bed from about 6:40 to 7:20. Finally I hear "Liam boo-boo mommy!" over and over. I thought, well, I should probably be a good mom and go make sure he is okay. I walk in there, and he's sitting propped up on his pillows against the wall just chillin.' I said, "where do you have a boo-boo?" He shows me his index finger, which is the standard body part that he uses when he wants sympathy for a non-existent boo-boo. I am realizing that my child is figuring out how to manipulate me.

-I love it when I manage to typo my way into a porn site at work. Liam's day care has a video monitor system where I can watch him in his classroom throughout the day. It's called watchmegrow.com. Sometimes I forget which browsers, between home and work, allow me to type in half the site and hit enter and which require me to type in the whole url. I typed in "www.watchme," hit enter, and found myself staring at a site about amateur porn. Yikes! Hopefully those monitoring Internet usage understand that it happens to the best of us.

-Do you know how many cans of shaving gel I have lost to unfortunate falls from my hands or from the shower storage unit. It never fails - the plastic squirter on top completely shatters, rendering a perfectly good can of gel useless.

-I did not mean to alarm anyone with my "life crisis" comment. I use the term lightly. I usually think of the "quarter-life crisis" concept when I use it...it's like lots of internal conflict, but all the while you acknowledge that there are a lot of people out there who truly are in a state of crisis, and you feel bad using it.

-I am so done being pregnant! I'm starting to slow back down, swell up, and spend my life in a semi-conscious haze. I forgot to take my rings off last night, and when I got up in the middle of the night, my fingers were like big old bubbles on either side of my rings. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to get them off. I had been sleeping like a baby, but recently it's been harder to get comfortable. I am reaching this point of sheer misery so much more quickly this time. I wonder how I am going to feel at 36 weeks! *shudder*

-I had so many random items I meant to list, but when I go to sit down and write, I lose them. That is actually why I am writing a second random item blog - because I had forgotten what I was going to say in my last post. So I will leave you with that for the night.

My random item? The term sleeping like a baby. I always thought that meant sleeping so nice, sound and peaceful...until I had one of my own. In actuality, sleeping like a baby (for me at least) now means, sleeping for an hour, until the parents fall asleep...and then having a party in the crib until 3am. Hopefully, your sleep like a baby comment refers to sleeping nice and sound! ;)

ALSO, our boys are so similar it is scary. I get the finger boo-boos, too....usually, it is a fingernail that is jagged...at other times, it is nothing at all.

Does Liam ever want to sleep with his wooden trains? Caleb wanted to yesterday and again last night. He settled when I said he could put it on the headboard of his bed to watch him sleep...

Oh trust me, I have totally had the same exact thought about the term "sleeping like a baby!" Last night I slept like a baby - on and off, off and on. I don't know why I used it!

He hasn't wanted to sleep with his wooden trains yet! I imagine there will come a day, but I am sure that pictures have told you how fond he is of sleeping in his train conductor's hat!

Oh boys - they're too much fun! i am trying to convince myself as I have been listening to him scream in bed for an hour because to him, daylight does not equal bedtime. Grrr.
