Maternity clothes....GRRR!!!
I think there are two different types of pregnant women when it comes to maternity clothes. There are those who go out and buy a new wardrobe the moment they see two lines on the pee stick and start donning the new attire at the first pound of water weight (hey - I can't say maternity pants are particularly inconvenient). Then there are those who run away kicking and screaming. I fall into the latter group.
My first stage of maternity clothes last time was to go get a bunch of regular stuff in a larger size. That worked well, especially considering the empire waist was pretty in back then, and it has still lingered. For pants, I relied on the belly bands and the hair thingies. My goal was to go as long as possible without purchasing a pair of maternity pants. I made it 23 weeks, and finally, one day, I said "today is the day. It cannot wait."
I retrieved my maternity clothes from my SIL, and I am dreading the day I have to take them out of the back of the car for any reason. They can stay there forever, as far as I am concerned. I also didn't realize how much of my wardrobe had been borrowed and how much I still have to get for when the day comes (inevitably unexpectedly - to the point where you literally wake up one morning and nothing fits).
I love that this pregnancy will span two weather extremes.
I've put my best foot forward and have tried to go out in search of maternity clothes. I refuse to look frumpy. Cute maternity clothes are few and far between. I finally went to OldNavy.com and took a chance ordering a few shirts. I got them, and they are okay. I don't plan on ordering anything else from Old Navy, but what I have will do for a few months. They're made out of an extremely thin material (next thing to check off the list - cami's) that I know will have to be ironed each time out of the wash - exactly what I want to be doing with my evenings. They're also humongous around the waist - you lift your arms up and the waist wings out 3 inches on each side. It all looked so cute on the site.
I've also said that I'm willing to splurge on a few cute shirts. Ugly maternity clothes are expensive. Cute ones are ridiculous. But I'll do it - just a couple times. I went into Mimi's today...unfortunately everything was ugly AND ridiculously priced.
Oh well - I guess I'll just keep on truckin'. That is about all I can do! Hopefully I have some time here (I will keep you posted on how long I can go without pulling out the pants - but I am not expecting much out of a second pregnancy), but that day will come eventually where I better have triumphed over this horrible concept.

I didn't totally hate maternity clothes.
I had some good luck at Marshalls and Target.
