So there is a to-scale pic of Liam and his giant car seat. As you can see, it will last him well into toddlerhood, and I don't anticipate having to replace it.
I figured it would be appropriate to write today, as it was this day last year that I found out I was pregnant. It was the Friday before Memorial Day...probably about 3am because I had to pee and didn't want to go and then test 2 hours later. I figured the accuracy would be better.
A note about pregnancy positives - they say that it could take up to 3 minutes, but if it's positive, it is pretty damn quick. I was still getting the instructions back out just to make sure I knew what was what when I looked down and saw two lines instead of one. At that point I would not have been surprised either way - I had been so sure I wasn't but then started experiencing things I thought might be signs - so I was kind of like, "huhn....," thinking I should be more excited than I was.
I never took a second test. I knew a positive was a positive. I didn't have much doubt.
I was headed up to the lakehouse without Andy that weekend, and I was wondering how I was going to get away with not drinking the entire weekend in front of my parents. I went to the store and bought a cheap bottle of wine and some pomegranate juice. I dumped the wine (heartbreaking) and replaced it with pomegranate juice. The juice was terrible at room temperature, but it at least threw my parents off the trail.
I went to Target today and got Liam all the essentials for the pool - a second swimsuit, some sunglasses, swim diapers (way too big I am sure), a float with a canopy over it...he already has the vinyl pants...we'll definitely be taking him to the pool up at the lake this weekend.
We are at this crossraods on diapers, trying to figure out exactly which kind and size to get before we commit to another bulk box (he grew out of his Pampers Swaddlers Size 1-2 midway through the bulk box last time). I think that Pampers Baby Dry, either size 2 or size 2-3 are the front-runners. We got some Swaddlers size 2-3, and they are huge, but at least we know that they will last until we are done with the box.
My thing with the Swaddlers is that, though I love them because they are nice and soft and thin, when they are full of pee I feel like they are going to wring pee out on me when I am rolling them up to throw out. I like the Huggies Gentle Care diapers because they are soft as well, and I feel like they draw the pee away from him well enough so that it doesn't bother him (he hates sitting in a wet diaper). I just got the Baby Dry diapers today, and I think they have it all - softness, thinness, and protection against the pee seeping out the front. We'll see. The things that moms have to think about.
Anywho. We are off to the lake this weekend (if you did not already gather that) for Liam's first bout of fun in the sun (or shade).
